Professional experienceLindsay is a pianist, teacher, and certified piano technician with a lifelong dedication to high quality music education. Her journey began with a music scholarship to Rossall School at the age of nine, followed by a full academic and boarding scholarship to Chetham’s School of Music—one of the UK’s leading specialist music schools. She holds a First-Class Honours degree in Music, a Master’s in Music Industry Management and Promotion (awarded with Distinction), a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Music Education with Qualified Teacher Status (graded Outstanding by Ofsted). In addition, she trained in piano technology at the University of Western Ontario, earning certification as a Piano Technician. This unique combination of musical, technical, and industry expertise underpins her well-rounded approach to both teaching and leading a thriving, successful piano school.
In 2018, after returning to the UK and leading a secondary school music department, Lindsay independently founded The Piano School.
In 2022, Lindsay was joined by her partner, now husband David—a fellow Chetham’s alumnus, accomplished classical pianist, and trained piano technician. In 2025, Mike Taylor added a new dimension to the team, bringing a focus on jazz, improvisation, and contemporary styles through ‘The Jazz School’.
The school hosts two larger open concerts each year and offers regular smaller, informal meet-ups for adult learners, fostering not just performance skills, but community and connection. At the heart of The Piano School’s success is a commitment to quality, professionalism, inclusion, and—above all—the students. Lindsay believes music should be accessible, inspiring, and shared, and she’s proud to lead a school where those values guide everything they do.
