TUNING A piano should be tuned every six months to keep the instrument at the correct pitch (A440) One of the secrets of successful piano tuning is to turn the tuning pins as little as possible. By tuning a piano at six-monthly intervals the instrument will never be far out of tune and the correct pitch will be maintained. I provide piano tuning for all makes and models of pianos. From fine tuning to pitch adjustment, I offer a wide range of piano tuning ﹠ repair services throughout Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, and Chorleywood. My tuning fees are very competitive. I can set up a reminder service to keep you informed when your piano is next due for tuning. Upright Pianos £80 Grand Pianos £80 Piano repairs generally fall under one of these categories- Regulating This should generally be carried out every five years, and involves re-setting measurements within the action and keyboard movement, as well as making any adjustments to the pedals if necessary. Correct regulation will improve the playing quality of your piano, so that all notes feel and respond the same.

I have a big love for teaching music and sharing my passion for it. I like to keep a relaxed feel to my lessons, keeping the lesson plan adaptable to how the student is playing/ what they need on the day. I’ve been a professional performer and educator of guitar ﹠ music tech for over 7 years, touring the UK, Ireland ﹠ the US several times as well as teaching privately and at guitar camps. I have completed 2 grade 8 distinctions in guitar, 1 in RGT acoustic guitar and 1 in music performance. I have also guided students though grades in rock school, RGT acoustic guitar, ABRSM music theory and music tech as well as teaching towards students own personal goals. My favorite and most specialized genres are Gypsy Jazz, Jazz, Folk, blues, pop ﹠ rock but can happily play and teach nearly everything on acoustic or electric!

Lindsay is a pianist, teacher, and certified piano technician with a lifelong dedication to high quality music education. Her journey began with a music scholarship to Rossall School at the age of nine, followed by a full academic and boarding scholarship to Chetham’s School of Music—one of the UK’s leading specialist music schools. She holds a First-Class Honours degree in Music, a Master’s in Music Industry Management and Promotion (awarded with Distinction), a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Music Education with Qualified Teacher Status (graded Outstanding by Ofsted). In addition, she trained in piano technology at the University of Western Ontario, earning certification as a Piano Technician. This unique combination of musical, technical, and industry expertise underpins her well-rounded approach to both teaching and leading a thriving, successful piano school. In 2018, after returning to the UK and leading a secondary school music department, Lindsay independently founded The Piano School. In 2022, Lindsay was joined by her partner, now husband David—a fellow Chetham’s alumnus, accomplished classical pianist, and trained piano technician. In 2025, Mike Taylor added a new dimension to the team, bringing a focus on jazz, improvisation, and contemporary styles through ‘The Jazz School’. The school hosts two larger open concerts each year and offers regular smaller, informal meet-ups for adult learners, fostering not just performance skills, but community and connection. At the heart of The Piano School’s success is a commitment to quality, professionalism, inclusion, and—above all—the students. Lindsay believes music should be accessible, inspiring, and shared, and she’s proud to lead a school where those values guide everything they do.

Sing 4 Life
21

Professor of music theory

Coxheath, ME17 4PQ
Helen holds a teaching diploma with distinction from Trinity College London and is a Member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and Association of Teachers of Singing and has been singing publicly since she was 5. She has sung with choirs and fronted function bands, performed as a session singer in the studio and sung on live recordings. From show tunes to arias and small intimate venues to showground arenas; Helen has lots of real-world experience to share with students. She loves helping singers discover they can do so much more with their voice than they thought and you’ll learn good technique in a relaxed and encouraging environment to help you make the best of your voice and has launch Sing4Life in the UK to cover all aspects of her music teaching. Here’s what some of my pupils say... “I have never been confident in singing and have gone through many teachers trying to find someone I felt comfortable with. I then met Helen and instantly felt supported. I have had lessons with her for a year now and can’t believe my progress. My confidence has grown massively and that’s purely down to Helens encouragement and patience. I will never be able to thank her enough!” [L] “Helen has the unique gift of never flagging in her efforts to get the best out of a singer. She is unfailingly patient as she supports you. A great help to me, not the most confident of singers. Always enthusiastic, always positive, she can’t help but reflect her own undiminished love of singing. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending her to anyone wanting to improve their technique.” [D]
