In addition to Gordon being an incredible drummer - which is of course is a great place to start for a teacher of your subject, Gordon is professional and encourages his students to share his passion for music knowledge, history of music and continual learning. Feeling secure in the basics, not only for the drums but piano too, increases the ability to play. Little things that turn out to be very influential to your playing for example checking that you are really playing comfortably, with the way the kit is set up for you, turns out as a left handed young person my son had been taught right handed by others and just not getting to grips with techniques, yet practised and had a longing to play the drums, he had different teachers and got so far and then couldn’t progress with his drumming, and it was why he just gave up for a while. Care and understanding to the needs of an individual student’s way of learning, showed through when Gordon started to teach my son - he reset the drums for playing left handed - wow what a difference. You come away having played and achieved from your very first lesson with Gordon, which is important when you have struggled before or maybe never played at all! Yes you can go in for your music grades with Gordon if you wish - but you can also learn so much from playing some great pieces such as Rock, Jazz, Beatles - to Ed Sheeran and much more in between, and it is encouraged for your learning to be diverse! Gordon creates all his own music lessons, not taken from your standard books and will adapt the lesson to your level, always going back to make sure you have understood, he enjoys a little Q&A time too! If you really wish to learn or have a child just starting their journey in music - you could not ask for a better teacher -it’s where the building blocks begin stable and strong to a life with the passion for music and music knowledge, whether playing the drums or the piano - just great successful learning and playing achieved by my son, by building his confidence to play since finding the right teacher.
